Description

I can't think of a better name for this. If you come across it and can think of something better send me a message. So this is a 3D Printed "patch" of sorts for the Gas Cap on my Ford Ranger. My Ranger had a spot of rust on a corner of the metal gas door/flap. It had pretty much eaten through the bottom left hand corner. I cut off the rusted corner of my Gas Cap door/flap and created this as a creative aesthetically pleasing patch that i've printed several times with a variety of material. I glued this to the metal door/flap with a kind of 2-part epoxy, something like JB Weld. The one I printed as a final to use was printed with a clear maybe ice HT-PLA made by Proto-Pasta. I coated it several times with a UV clear coat like Rustoleum. I completed and installed it around April 2018. It is now the deep of winter in Wisconsin and it is still holding up well. Has not broke or visibly worn. Some gold highlights I used are not very bright and seem to have soaked up some road grime. This thing was made with Tinkercad.
