Description

I used to have a mobile unit, but someone broke into my SUV and stole everything they could get disconnected. I made this mount to so I can use my portable, and remove it when I'm not in the vehicle. It has a flat bottom, and beveled screw holes, so mounting is easy on millions of surfaces, I made another one with my call sign on it for my Suburban, and this prototype unit is now in my Audi. If you notice in the picture, I'm not using screws, this was my prototype so it's just double sided taped using regular 3M tape. It also has a rounded bottom, I realized that was just me being silly so I made it flat. I remade it with my call sign, and 100% fill for strength (not that it needed it). FYI...I know it looks close, but believe it or not, the shifter clears pretty easily because it has to lift out before going down into gear. This mount is PERFECT for Chevrolet/GMC Suburban/Tahoe/Silverados 1999 and down. I made the prototype (this one) with 30% fill and it was really strong, but since there is literally 0.1 mm gap between the walls, I just set it to 100% fill when I made my final version that had my call sign on it. I set it to 0.2 for 2 reasons; 1st, it's faster. 2nd, it creates a groove feel which actually helps the Baofeng clip to grip onto the unit, and keep it from bouncing out if you are doing some serious off-roading. I've got a big suburban, that's lifted, and gets beat on regularly, things need to stay in place. :).
