Description

3D printer to the rescue once again. Two nights ago as I was getting in to my car (2000 Toyota Camry) in the freezing cold, I lifted the handle and nothing happened. Got in through the passenger side and started home, once home I took a quick look, the door handle rod had dislodged from handle, fortunately the handle looked intact. Forward to today, I finally get the door apart and see that the lock rod clip(the yellow thing) is broken and so the rod won't stay in place. Although you can get an assortment of the parts for about 5-8 dollars (Dorman Door Lock Rod Clips 75474), no one has them in stock, so that would mean 3-5 more days of going through the passenger side to open the driver door from inside. After about 45 minutes of measuring and designing and then 3 hours of printing, the problem is solved for now. I'll probably have to have someone else print some in ABS for the summer, but for now the flexible filament seems to be doing the job.
