Description

This is a little project that I made to allow me to place my phone on a MagSafe charger easily in my Jeep. I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL Summit that does not have the wireless charging pad and I wanted to find a way to charge my iPhone 12 Pro wirelessly without a mess. I created this project to easily fit in the small storage bin in front of the gear shifter but perpendicular to the orientation of the storage bin and Jeep equipped wireless charger to allow me to use the other half of the bin for storage. The MagSafe also holds the iPhone firmly in place while the car is in motion. This is set up to allow for my iPhone 12 Pro to work with the official Apple MagSafe charger and plug in directly above to the USB-C port in the Grand Cherokee. Similarly dimensioned iPhones should also work, but you may have to remix or rethink the design if you have a larger iPhone such as a max since the dimensions are pretty tight as is in this configuration. I have provided my Fusion 360 file to hopefully make it easier for you to adjust. This file also includes the rough 3D scan I took with my iPhone of my Jeep and a "mock iPhone" I used to get a good idea of the fit. I am not a trained 3D designer beyond a few beginner engineering classes years ago in college, so my apologies in advance for the file being a mess and likely not using best practices. I printed this in TPU to give me a softer material to place the iPhone against. The dimensions where the "bump" is in the storage bin are a bit generous. I first started with printing exactly to the dimensions of a 3d scan I took with my iPhone, but I found that when I printed it it just didn't fit quite right. So I have opted to give a bit more wiggle room in the dimensions and simply use a hot glue gun to better affix the print to the rubber in the storage bin. Hopefully this helps someone else out as well, best of luck! * Note: This was created to solve my personal problem and I am sharing in hopes of it helping others like me. I am not in any way associated with Jeep or Apple and I do not take any responsibility for damage to your vehicle or iPhone. Use at your own risk.
