Description

Hello, this is the first thing I have made which I want to share with you. I have seen, that some printable solutions are available, but they didn't meet my needs and I thought, a better solution is necessary. I'm driving a BMW e87 from 2010 and I'm super happy with this car, besides one fact. The original cup holder is a little bit pain in the a... Unfortunatetly the engineers made a big mistake placing the cup holder directly below the arm rest, as you can see on the attached pictures. Due to this placement it's not possible to put any drink that is taller than 120 mm in the cup holder and use the arm rest at the same time. For my experience that means almost any bottle or cup. There are a couple of solutions available, also from BMW itself. But the solution from BMW is not very satisfying for me, due to following disadvantages. 1)costs are about 80 € 2)you have to drill a hole in your middle console 2)the position is not very comfortable for a passenger sitting next to you Due to the fact, that the original cup holder "hole" is available, I didn't wanted to waste this space. My solution consists of three components. The adaptor (support material necessary) It fits in the existing cup holder and is designed to be rotateable The bridge or bar (no support material needed) This is the conneting part between the adaptor and the cup holder I have designed. The cup holder itsself (support material necessary) Dimensions for cup: Diameter top: 80 mm Diameter bottom: 66 mm Heights: 60 mm For printing the cup holder i would use support blocker (CURA) as you can see on the attached picture. With this the support material can be removed very easy. All components fits together very nice and smooth. Unfortunatetly I had to make the experience, that a tight connection is to prefere, due to the fact that sometimes you have to break hard. Therefore I added a defined overpress connection between adaptor and bar as well as for bar and cup holder. I hope this solution meets also your needs. Notice: This Thing is Work-In-Progress Remixes are welcome Thank you very much.
