Description

This is a replacement detent arm for Ford F-150 trucks built from 2009-2014 that shift gears using a floor shifter / console shifter. The original Ford part is very fragile and can easily break when the gear shift assembly is being disassembled for repairs or upgrades. Ford does not sell this part by itself, so the only way to get one of these parts is to either buy an entire new gear shift assembly which is very expensive, or to take one from a disassembled gear shift assembly from another vehicle. Due to similar designs in other Ford/Lincoln/Mercury products, it may work in multiple other vehicles as well, although this part has only been tested in a single vehicle at time of publishing, specifically a 2012 F-150. Because the original factory part was made using injection molding, some design elements of the original part that were present to facilitate the injection molding process have been removed, resulting in a part that fits the original shifter while looking different, but it should be stronger than the original design. All clearances have been confirmed to fit, although some light sanding or filing may be required to get this part to move smoothly in the shifter assembly, depending on print quality. The small wheel at the end of the arm from the original factory part was reused with this part. This part was printed on a Prusa Mini+ using a 0.40mm nozzle, with the long arm flat against the print bed and the cylindrical part facing straight up. It was sliced using Prusaslicer, using the 0.20mm Quality preset, with modifications to settings including organic supports only on the print bed, and 100% infill. It was printed with Prusament PLA. The original GCODE that the author used has been attached. Of note, printing this part using PLA may not be suitable for some areas due to hot summers potentially causing the part to deform under heat and spring tension. If you live in a hot area, it is recommended that you print this part with something that is more heat-resistant, such as PETG or Polycarbonate.
