Description

This key case is for the current Mazda keys from the 3, CX30, CX5,... since 2019. I´ve bought a Mazda 3 BP last year and the seller told me, that the key (case) is very expensive when I lose or break it, so I decided to get a silikon cover at first. With this cover, the key gets even bigger, than it already is, which was really anoying in my pocket!! This was the moment, when I decided to shrink it down by printing a new and smaler case. I first pulled the pcb out of the original case and drew a 1:1 CAD drawing, to fit a new case. I found the one from @zxsix and loeded it into my CAD drawing. I saw, that it didn´t fit my PCB well and also had more buttons than mine, since I only have the normal version with just an open and close button. So I resized the case and buttons and removed the buttons I did not need. I printed a test and noticed, that the locking mechanism of the case was not tight enough, so the lid would wiggle arround ( I saw the original tolerances where a little to big for my taste/printer) so I also redrew the closing mechanism with smaler tolerances and printed it again. Now it fits perfectly and everything works fine. I can always reprint it now when it breaks or if I want a different color for under a buck. I´m very pleased with the result. Note that the case doesn´t hold the spare key, which is inside the original case, but since the key got a hole in it, you could ad it to your keychain anyways.
