Description

This is a piece to the replace the cover for the phone charger dock on a Tesla Model 3 to allow thicker phones and phones with thicker cases to fit into the notch and connect to the charger. It adds about 4mm more height - and might actually be too much for others, but for my Mophie Juice Pack case on my iPhone 6S fits perfectly. If people want a slightly shorter version that adds 2mm more height, I can make another version. It slots in just like the version from Tesla by pulling up on the charging dock hinge and then sliding the current piece left to remove it and then put the new one in and slide right to add it. To make it match the piano glossy black you would either need an exceptional 3D printer, or for the rest of us with normal printers, I recommend covering it with glossy black vinyl. For example, VVivid XPO glossy black vinyl for $7 Amazon works well. Alternatively, I would recommend a hobby store, they usually sell glossy black vinyl sticker sheets. For my car, I covered the center console with matte black VVivid vinyl and so then I put on a piece of matte vinyl over the 3D printed piece and it matched the rest of the console exactly. You will likely need support to print the tabs, but because the overhangs are small enough you might be able to get away without support if you have a fan blowing and the printer running at a slower speed. It's licensed for Creative Commons, and can not be used for commercial sale. Note - edited on 7/24: Based on feedback in the comment section I made two newer revisions - one called "thinner" and another called "no_wall". What this does is obvious if you look at the.stl and could be harder for me to describe but it basically minimizes the distance from the end of the connector to the end of the phone. The version called "thinner" removes 1mm, and the version called "no_wall" removes the separation wall altogether. I'm going to delete the original version because I think these two new versions are better.
