MG Bonnet Support

3DPrintedCarPartDescription
This device is used to safely hold the hood (bonnet) of MG roadsters open for mechanical work or merely engine viewing. Ideally, two should be printed, one for each side of the hood. It can actually be used as printed (without magnets) if you place it on the MGTD's tool box and brace one side of it against the tool boxes latch bracket (see photos). I printed a 3/4" diameter by 1/16" deep depression in the bottom of the module into which a neodymium magnet can be press fit. You will have to clean the area of residual fibers though in order to get the magnet to fit. A light tap with a hammer should do it. I suggest that you check the polarity of the two magnets and put them into the two modules in such a way that when assembled, the two units will stick to one another so you won't lose them! They are printed with PLA and should not mar any paint finish. If you want to, you could glue felt into the groove and onto the bottom of the module for added protection. I have not found that to be necessary though. Just don't get grit or dirt under it before putting it in place! As mentioned earlier, use the toolbox latch bracket to help hold the module in place, even when using the magnets!! Do NOT drive the vehicle or run the engine, with these in place. They may vibrate out of position, then the paint on your hood panels would get chipped.
