Description

The throttle on the first generation (2010/2011) BMW S1000RR is very stiff to turn. This is because of the spring on the throttle bodies. This bracket allows the spring to be unwound by about 120 degrees, thereby softening the amount of effort required to twist the throttle. This bracket is designed to go over top of the bracket already installed to hold the throttle cable. It is best to add some blue threadlock to the 2 screws, and to take care not to over-tighten these screws. The temperature in this area of the engine should be less than 150 F. The airbox goes right overtop the throttle bodies and the airbox is made of plastic. Plus there is constant air flow to keep the throttle bodies cool. ABS should work (not PLA). I found that the ideal material to print this in is Colorfabb HT. This is because it has a Glass Temperature of over 100 degrees celsius. This is higher than ABS, but lower than PolyCarbonate. The higher the heat resistance the better, however the bracket should not be too rigid (as in PolyCarbonate) otherwise it would break when the screws are tightened.
