ECU Mount for JB32 (Suzuki Sierra)
Shared by
3DPrintedCarPartDescription
This is a mount for a Suzuki OEM ECU (from a Vitara, Baleno, or a Jimny) that will fit just to the right of the original steering column using from-factor holes in a "Coily" Sierra. This was designed and tested for a Suzuki Sierra made for the Australian market. The steering wheel is on the right hand side of the vehicle. It is equivalent to the JB32. This part, or a mirrored version, *may* work for an older model Sierra, or a left-handed Samurai, but I don't have access to either of these to check. If you can see the same bolt-holes than it probably will. There are two stls, one designed for a heated brass insert, and one for a standard nut. Both versions have provision for a (minimum) length 50mm M3 bolt to strengthen the angled "neck". Whether or not you choose to use the compression bolt, the hole will still add strength to the neck so I wouldn't recommend trying to remove it. This part is designed around a 0.3mm layer height and there would be no advantage to printing it at a finer resolution. Testing the strength of the neck in generic PLA (grey) it withstood at least 180N *without* the tensioning bolt. My final part is printed in ASA (black). The original mount is metal, and this would have served two secondary purposes in grounding the ECU housing and as a thermal conduit. I'm not aware of any filament that would perform adequately as a thermal conduit but that shouldn't be a problem. The lack of grounding could be a problem so to make up for it I have added grooves for two 1.4 mm wires that will be in contact with the mounting bolts. This should be more than sufficient to ground the ECU's housing. The latest design now has a hole through the bottom (or roof). This was added to allow a tool to have access to the compression bolt's hole from either side just in case you need to do any post-processing.
