Description

Went to install new speakers in my car and the OE mounting brackets were in pretty bad shape. They also didn't quite fit my new speakers, only two screw holes lined up and the cover wouldn't fit on since the new speakers stick out a little farther. This addresses both issues, it is slightly deeper and the screw holes should fit a standard 5.25" speaker. You will need a 7/64ths & a 3/16ths drill bit, I didn't create the screw holes in the model, only an indent to guide a drill bit since my printer doesn't do small holes well. I would print these with 100% infill. The indent for the speaker holes is on the front and these can be drilled all the way through. The indent for the mounting holes is on the back and lines up with the recesses on the front. If you don't have a drill press, make sure to keep the drill plumb. The OE speaker screws are 1/2 inch #6 which fit into the 7/64ths holes and I used #8 machine screws with a washer and nut on the back to attach the bracket to the door. Since I had gone to this much trouble, I went ahead and made covers too, there is a deeper cover to match the deeper bracket(not required, OE still fits) and an OE sized cover. These would just need some speaker grill material glued in to cover the hole. I test printed the covers to make sure they fit correctly. I think that these could be used to convert an older 240 with 4" door speakers to 5.25" speakers since the hole in the door panel is still 4", but I don't have a way to test that.
